How to Make Perfect Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken: Simple Steps for Restaurant-Quality Results

Step 1 – Prepare the Chicken

Slice chicken breasts horizontally to make four thin steaks. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Lightly coat each piece in flour and shake off excess. This step helps the sauce cling and creates a beautiful crust.

Step 2 – Sear the Chicken

Melt most of the butter in a large skillet over high heat. Place chicken in the pan and cook 2–3 minutes on one side until golden, then flip and cook 1 minute on the other side.

Step 3 – Make the Sauce

Turn heat down slightly. Move chicken to the side and add minced garlic with the remaining butter. Stir briefly. Add vinegar, soy sauce, and honey, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer for 1 minute until slightly thickened.

Step 4 – Coat and Serve

Turn chicken in the sauce until fully coated. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of water. Remove from heat, plate the chicken, and drizzle with remaining sauce. Serve immediately.

Pro Tips for Success

  1. Pat chicken dry before flouring for a crispier crust.
  2. Don’t overcook — chicken should be just cooked through to stay juicy.
  3. Use high-quality honey for a natural, rich sweetness.
  4. Adjust vinegar to taste for tangier flavor.
  5. Keep sauce on medium heat to prevent burning the honey.
  6. For extra shine, brush chicken with sauce right before serving.

Flavor Variations

  • Spicy Honey Garlic: Add 1/2 tsp chili flakes to the sauce.
  • Citrus Twist: Squeeze 1 tsp fresh lemon juice into the sauce.
  • Herb Infused: Add 1 tsp fresh thyme or rosemary while simmering.
  • Maple Glaze: Swap honey with pure maple syrup for a deeper flavor.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve over steamed rice, quinoa, or buttered noodles.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables or a crisp green salad.
  • Add a sprinkle of sesame seeds or chopped green onions for garnish.

Storage and Freezing Instructions

  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freezer: Freeze chicken and sauce separately for up to 2 months. Reheat gently on low heat to prevent the honey from burning.

Description

This is a super quick and easy way to serve juicy chicken breast—first seared to perfection, then simmered in a rich, sticky honey garlic sauce. Don’t be fooled by the short ingredient list! Dusting the chicken with flour is totally worth it—it forms a golden crust that helps the sauce cling for maximum flavor

Ingredients

500g / 1 lb chicken breast , boneless and skinless (2 pieces)

Salt and pepper

1/4 cup flour (Note 1)

3 1/2 tbsp (50g) unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)

2 garlic cloves , minced

1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)

1 tbsp soy sauce , light or all purpose (Note 2)

1/3 cup honey (or maple syrup)

Instructions

Cut the breasts in half horizontally to create 4 steaks in total. Sprinkle each side with salt and pepper.

Place flour in a shallow dish. Coat chicken in flour and shake off excess.

Melt most of the butter in a large skillet over high heat – hold back about 1 tsp for later.

Place chicken in skillet and cook for 2 – 3 minutes until golden. Turn and cook the other side for 1 minute.

Turn heat down slightly to medium high.

Make a bit of room in the pan and add garlic and top with remaining dab of butter. Stir garlic briefly once butter melts.

Add vinegar, soy sauce and honey. Stir / shake pan to combine. Bring sauce to simmer, then simmer for 1 minute or until slightly thickened.

Turn chicken to coat in sauce. If the sauce gets too thick, add a touch of water and stir.

Remove from stove immediately. Place chicken on plates and drizzle over remaining sauce.

Notes

For the best results: use light soy sauce for a balanced flavor, don’t skip the flour—it gives the chicken a crispy crust, and sauté garlic just until golden to avoid any bitterness. If the sauce gets too thick, a splash of water will bring it back to perfection.

Final Thoughts

Honey Glazed Chicken Easy One is an easy, flavorful, and versatile recipe perfect for busy weeknights or special dinners. With minimal ingredients and a glossy, sweet-savory sauce, it’s a dish that will impress the whole family.
