Description

The Georgia Reuben sandwich is a Southern-inspired twist on the classic Reuben—featuring turkey, Swiss cheese, creamy coleslaw, and zesty Russian dressing on rye or sourdough bread.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices rye or sourdough bread
  • 1/2 lb sliced turkey breast
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup creamy coleslaw
  • 1/4 cup Russian or Thousand Island dressing
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • Optional: avocado slices or pickles for serving

Instructions

  1. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  2. On the unbuttered side of four slices, spread a layer of Russian dressing.
  3. Layer turkey slices, Swiss cheese, and a spoonful of creamy coleslaw over the dressing.
  4. Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side out.
  5. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  6. Grill sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from heat and let rest for a minute before slicing.
  8. Serve warm with pickles, chips, or a side salad.

Notes

For extra flavor, use homemade coleslaw or add a touch of spicy mustard. You can also swap turkey for smoked ham or roasted chicken. Great with sweet potato fries or tomato soup!
