Description
The Georgia Reuben sandwich is a Southern-inspired twist on the classic Reubenโfeaturing turkey, Swiss cheese, creamy coleslaw, and zesty Russian dressing on rye or sourdough bread.
Ingredients
- 8 slices rye or sourdough bread
- 1/2 lb sliced turkey breast
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 cup creamy coleslaw
- 1/4 cup Russian or Thousand Island dressing
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- Optional: avocado slices or pickles for serving
Instructions
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- On the unbuttered side of four slices, spread a layer of Russian dressing.
- Layer turkey slices, Swiss cheese, and a spoonful of creamy coleslaw over the dressing.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side out.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Grill sandwiches for 3โ4 minutes per side, pressing lightly until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat and let rest for a minute before slicing.
- Serve warm with pickles, chips, or a side salad.
Notes
For extra flavor, use homemade coleslaw or add a touch of spicy mustard. You can also swap turkey for smoked ham or roasted chicken. Great with sweet potato fries or tomato soup!
