Ingredients
- 1½ pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup ketchup or tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire-style savory sauce
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
- Chopped parsley or sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns.
- Add diced onion and cook until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Drain excess grease if needed.
- Reduce heat to medium and stir in ketchup, tomato paste, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire-style sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Lower heat and add softened cream cheese.
- Stir until fully melted and combined.
- Add shredded cheese and stir until melted.
- Garnish if desired and serve hot with chips or bread.
