Description

These sausage French toast roll-ups are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with savory sausage for an easy, fun, and comforting breakfast everyone will love.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices white sandwich bread
  • 8 breakfast sausage links
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, optional
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for cooking
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, optional
  • Fresh fruit, optional


Instructions

  1. Cook sausage links according to package directions until fully cooked and set aside.
  2. Trim crusts from bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
  3. Place one sausage on each slice and roll tightly, seam side down.
  4. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar in a shallow bowl.
  5. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Dip each roll-up in egg mixture, coating all sides.
  7. Cook roll-ups, turning often, until golden brown on all sides.
  8. Remove from heat and serve warm with maple syrup and toppings.

Notes

Do not over-soak the bread in the egg mixture and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
