Ingredients
- 4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- Butter, for greasing molds
- Cocoa powder or flour, for dusting molds
- Powdered sugar, for topping
- Fresh berries, for serving
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and generously grease two heart-shaped molds with butter, then dust with cocoa powder or flour.
- Melt the chopped chocolate and butter together using a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Whisk the powdered sugar into the melted chocolate until fully combined.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth and glossy.
- Gently fold in the flour and salt just until incorporated.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared molds and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are set and the centers remain soft.
- Let the cakes rest for 1 minute, then carefully invert onto serving plates.
- Serve immediately with powdered sugar, berries, or ice cream.
