Description

Ingredients

  • 4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Butter, for greasing molds
  • Cocoa powder or flour, for dusting molds
  • Powdered sugar, for topping
  • Fresh berries, for serving
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and generously grease two heart-shaped molds with butter, then dust with cocoa powder or flour.
  2. Melt the chopped chocolate and butter together using a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth.
  3. Whisk the powdered sugar into the melted chocolate until fully combined.
  4. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth and glossy.
  5. Gently fold in the flour and salt just until incorporated.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared molds and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are set and the centers remain soft.
  8. Let the cakes rest for 1 minute, then carefully invert onto serving plates.
  9. Serve immediately with powdered sugar, berries, or ice cream.
