A cozy, flavorful, one-skillet meal made with lean ground turkey, tender orzo, bright lemon-pepper seasoning, and broccoli folded into a creamy Parmesan sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 12 oz broccoli florets
- 1 lb extra-lean ground turkey
- 1 1/3 cups uncooked orzo
- 2 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 oz shredded Parmesan
- Optional: red pepper flakes, extra Parmesan
Instructions
- Sauté the broccoli in 1 Tbsp olive oil until bright green with lightly charred edges. Remove and set aside.
- Add 1/2 Tbsp olive oil to the pan and cook the ground turkey, breaking it apart until browned.
- Stir in the uncooked orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.
- Add lemon-pepper seasoning, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice; stir to coat.
- Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook 6–8 minutes until the orzo is tender.
- Lower heat and stir in butter, milk, and Parmesan until creamy.
- Fold the cooked broccoli back in, adjust seasoning, and serve with optional Parmesan or red pepper flakes.
Notes
Let the dish rest 2–3 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to naturally thicken.
