Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 8 ounces mushrooms (button or cremini), sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley or thyme (optional)
- Lemon juice or red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the green beans and cook until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Drain the green beans and set aside.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the mushrooms in a single layer and cook until golden.
- Add the minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
- Add the green beans to the skillet and toss to combine.
- Cook until everything is heated through.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Finish with fresh herbs or lemon juice if desired.
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the mushrooms so they brown properly and add garlic near the end to prevent burning.
