Description

Juicy mushrooms caramelized in butter and garlic for a rich, bold steakhouse-style side dish that comes together fast and delivers deep savory flavor.

Ingredients

  • 450 g (1 lb) mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon fresh or dried thyme (optional)
  • Lemon juice, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gently wipe mushrooms clean and trim stems if needed. Leave small mushrooms whole and halve larger ones.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil with 2 tablespoons butter.
  3. Add mushrooms in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until browned.
  4. Stir and continue cooking 4–5 minutes until moisture releases and mushrooms caramelize.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper.
  6. Lower heat slightly and add remaining butter and minced garlic.
  7. Stir constantly for 30–60 seconds until garlic is fragrant.
  8. Remove from heat and finish with herbs and optional lemon juice.
  9. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to avoid steaming. Add garlic only at the end to prevent burning and ensure the best flavor.
