Description
Juicy mushrooms caramelized in butter and garlic for a rich, bold steakhouse-style side dish that comes together fast and delivers deep savory flavor.
Ingredients
- 450 g (1 lb) mushrooms (button or cremini)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- ½ teaspoon fresh or dried thyme (optional)
- Lemon juice, to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Gently wipe mushrooms clean and trim stems if needed. Leave small mushrooms whole and halve larger ones.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil with 2 tablespoons butter.
- Add mushrooms in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until browned.
- Stir and continue cooking 4–5 minutes until moisture releases and mushrooms caramelize.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Lower heat slightly and add remaining butter and minced garlic.
- Stir constantly for 30–60 seconds until garlic is fragrant.
- Remove from heat and finish with herbs and optional lemon juice.
- Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the pan to avoid steaming. Add garlic only at the end to prevent burning and ensure the best flavor.
