Ingredients
- Unsalted butter
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Eggs

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter and whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely, then chill briefly for clean cuts.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the brownies into heart shapes.
