Ingredients
- 1 1/4 pounds flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
- 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup water
- Sesame seeds, optional
- Sliced green onions, optional
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain.
- Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, garlic, ginger, and water.
- Heat oil in a large skillet and cook the beef in batches until just browned, then remove.
- Add broccoli to the skillet and cook until bright green and crisp tender.
- Return the beef to the skillet and pour the sauce over the top.
- Simmer briefly until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
- Remove from heat and garnish if desired.
- Serve immediately while hot.
