Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (lean preferred)
  • 1½ cups crushed saltine crackers or plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Italian herbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Dash of cayenne (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk (for gravy)
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Combine ground beef, crushed saltines, milk, Italian herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  3. Shape into 8 patties and dredge each lightly in flour.
  4. Sear patties in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  5. Place patties in baking dish.
  6. Whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk, then pour evenly over patties.
  7. Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
